Where do you perform?
I primarily do performances in the Southeast Michigan area. If you have any questions about the possibility of performing outside of southeast Michigan, call me at (248) 804 - 4530, or e-mail me at Magic@David-McCall.com
What do you do?
I perform Ventriloquism (I talk to a puppet, and he talks to the audience and me), close up (small items, like coins, cards, etc.), balloon sculptures (balloon dogs, swords, parrots, hats, etc.), stage illusions (bigger items), Mentalism (psychological direction and illusion) and geek/sideshow styled stunts (balloon swallowing, etc).
My specialties, however, are in family magic, mind reading and sideshow stunts
How is David different from other illusionists that I might hire?
I perform a clean show.
I do many different kinds of entertainment (see above for more information).
I will work to tailor the show to your specific audience.
I offer more forms of entertainment as well as more options for payment methods.
I ave a clean record. I am insured through an entertainer's insurance, and as a teacher, I've had multiple background checks. Starting in 2009, I hope to have copies available for those who ask.
Is there any age restriction?
It depends on the act being performed. If I'm working with balloons, I would recommend that the audience is at least 3 years old.
For my Geek shows, depending on the type of stunt being performed, I would recommend that the audience is at least 15, and preferably over 18.
And for the VENTRILOQUISM 101 class, I would recommend that the students are at least 10 years old.
Otherwise, there are no restrictions on age; we adjust different acts to fit the age group of the audience.
Is there a deposit?
I charge a 25% non refundable deposit. This amount would be subtracted from the total cost of the performance. Starting January 1st 2009, I will charge a 50% deposit.
What about cancellations?
Please let me know if there will be a cancellation AS SOON as you are aware of the change in plans. Every attempt should be made by both parties to RESCHEDULE the event. If the performer has to cancel, your deposit will be fully refunded, and you will be notified of any emergency as soon as humanly possible. However, I have never canceled on a client in the last 10+ years of performing.
Do you accept credit cards?
I am able to accept most major credit cards, such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
However, if you're a company using a proprietary company credit card, we do have to charge an additional $10.00 fee for processing (for those paying less than $200.00), as the credit card company charges more to process these types of cards.
I will take a check and I will be happy to accept cash if a check is not available. You receive an invoice "receipt" in any of these payment methods.

Is there a contract?
For businesses and corporations, as well as more formal events, a small performance agreement is required. For smaller venues, such as birthday parties, a contract usually isn't needed; I do, however, send out a confirmation letter which will need to be signed and returned.
This is mainly to avoid miscommunications about venue location, start time, prep time, etc.
Any Travel fees?
The travel fee for magic (within a 200 mile round trip) is usually waived.
If you have any questions about travel, you may reach David J. McCall at the phone number below.
Please call (248) 804-4530 if you have more questions.
Are there health concerns?
I try to avoid effects that can create a problem for those with allergies (On occasion, there are effects with smoke, and small amounts of fire, but this is rare). Most shows, with the exception of my mind reading and geek shows, are very safe, and would not cause any harm. Please ask if you have any specific health concerns.
Note: On occasion, when working with balloons, I've had customers who had latex allergies. In that case, I can work with the client to come up with a solution before the event.
Do you have animals in your show?
Real animals can be unpredictable at times, and may become stressed when traveling. People may also be allergic / scared of certain animals. As a result, I only use puppet animals, and they're very well trained.
Are there any technical requirements?
I do ask that the performance area that is both safe and well lit.
If paying by credit card (on location), I will need access to a land line. Please feel free to discuss any additional technical concerns you might have.
