FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(click on any question in the menu below and you will be taken directly to that question.)How long does it take to edit my video?
This partly depends on which package you choose. If you go with the simple wedding package, it may take up to 2 months. If you decide to go with the wedding and reception package, and have requested more special extras (like montages of bride and groom growing up), it may take anywhere from 2 to 4 months to finish.
Is there a deposit?
Currently, I ask for a 50% non refundable deposit. This is in order to set the date, and set up any specific preparations that may be necessary for the wedding, as well as protect from sudden cancellations. The other 50% of the payment is required on the day of the event.
Do you take credit cards?
I currently accept cash or check only.
What happens if there is a technical glitch in the footage?
All of the equipment is new, and so there is not any cause for concern. In the slight chance that the footage can not be used, or fixed, you will receive a full refund (including the 50% deposit mentioned above).
If you find a glitch in the actual DVD you recieve (dvd stops playing, the music pauses, etc), I will replace the DVD during the first year for free, provided you send me your copy of the DVD.
Is there a travel fee?
If the wedding is outside of a 50 mile radius (100 miles round trip) of ASLAN offices, there may be a small travel fee added. However, the travel is usually planned, and so travel costs are ALWAYS discussed before the wedding.
Do we meet in person before the wedding?
I usually ask that there is at least one small meeting between the bride, groom, and myself. This is a great time to get questions answered personally, as well as for there to a chance for better communication as to how to make your day more memorable. This is also a great chance to show some of what I can do.
What are some benefits that you have that other companies do not?
I am a small company. As such, there is a very low overhead. I do not have extra office rent to pay, other employees to pay, extra liability insurance, etc. This means that I can create professional videos for a very low cost.
I have an artistic background. I graduated with a BFA in video/Special Effects, from College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
Do you film before the wedding?
Generally, I try to arrive to the wedding venue an hour and a half early. This is so that I can find great locations, set up the camera, and do some preliminary filming.
I also offer the option of filming the bride and groom each getting ready before the event. This is, of course, after everyone is fully dressed and ÒwaitingÓ for the big event. It is optional, because, occasionally, the bride and groom may feel uncomfortable being filmed at that time. Please let me know if you would like these moments filmed beforehand.
Can we get a copy of the event on VHS tape?
I offer (depending on the package), a DVD version of the event. This is so that the images will be clearer, and storage is generally easier. However, if requested, I will provide VHS copies.
What is your training/ experience?
I graduated from College for Creative Studies in December 2002, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation; Digital Media, with a focus on Videography/ Special Effects.Since then, I have worked for such jobs as: Production Assistant for Motor City Casino commercials, Miss Alabama competition, and National High School Rodeo Championships.
